2. FGC Profiles (Square, Rectangular, Angles, Channels)
FGC (Fiberglass Composite) profiles are structural sections made from high-strength fiberglass reinforced polymer (FRP). They are available in different shapes like square, rectangular, angles, and channels. These profiles are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, non-conductive, and highly durable, making them an excellent alternative to traditional steel, aluminum, or wood profiles.
Unlike steel, GFRP does not rust, making it ideal for marine structures, bridges, coastal projects, chemical plants, and water treatment facilities where exposure to moisture, salts, or chemicals is unavoidable. Their lightweight nature makes them 4x easier to transport, handle, and install, reducing labor costs and improving site efficiency.
Manufacturing
FGC Profiles are manufactured mainly using the pultrusion process. In this method, continuous glass fibers are drawn from spools and aligned in the required direction to provide strength. These fibers are then passed through a resin bath (commonly epoxy, polyester, or vinyl ester) so that they are completely impregnated with the polymer.
The resin-coated fibers are pulled through a heated die that gives the material its final shape—such as angles, channels, beams, or tubes—while also curing and hardening the composite. Once cured, the profiles are cooled and cut into the required lengths.
For better performance, the profiles may receive surface treatments such as UV protection, anti-slip coating, or color finishing. Finally, quality control tests are performed to check mechanical strength, dimensional accuracy, corrosion resistance, and bonding properties, ensuring that the profiles meet international standards.
Applications
